I am lucky enough that I get together about once a month to get inky with a group of very talented ladies. Amy, Kimberly, Katie, Kathryn and Laura. Yesterday Amy challenged us to join in on a color challenge and of course I had to accept! I am actually making this for several challenges! (linked below).
So…these are not colors I am used to playing with so this took me awhile to do. Everything just felt off while making this card. It started out as a standard A2 size but my paper-cutter didn’t cut straight, three different times! (okay two of those were probably because of me but shh…) It is now 4 1/4 by 3 1/2. The stamped bottom panel didn’t want to stamp straight, I made two of those. My tropical teal ink was too juicy and kind of just pooled altogether so I had to remake the top panel and find a close color that stamped kind of okay.
After all of that, I wanted a drink! lol I didn’t have one but I did come back this morning and found that I really like the card! I am loving that top panel! I made it by rubbing my ink pad on a clear stamping block and then lightly misting the top before stamping the paper. I think it give a kind cool watercolor/distress kind of look. I am also totally in love with the Tropical Teal color!
Thank you Amy for tossing out the challenge! It totally got me out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing even if I was a little cranky about it… 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
